My new rifle.

A Ruger 10/22 Tactical Target (#1230).

It's a 10/22 with a factory 0.920 inch diameter, 16 1/8 inch long heavy barrel, a Ruger target trigger, extended magazine release, Hogue over-molded stock, a weaver-style scope rail and a bi-pod. I replaced the non-tilting bi-pod that shipped in the Ruger box with a Harris S-BRM bipod that I previously mounted on my LTR.

"Ruger Hammer Forged" marked on top of the barrel.

I took the rifle to the range last Friday night, but the old Tasco 3-9x50 that I threw on top was worthless on my club's 50 foot indoor range.

Since I wanted a scope on this rifle, and not a mere optical sight, I topped it with a Leupold VX-II 3to 9 power Rimfire Extended Focus Range Scope. Extended Focus Range is a Leupold name for an adjustable objective scope that can correct cross-hair parallax down to very short ranges. This scope can focus down to as close as 10 meters.

For now I've mounted the scope using a set of Leupold Rifleman Vertical Split Matte two piece rings. After my web-ordered TPS rings went on back-order, I picked up the Leupold rings at my local shop after work. Hoffman's has a LOT of guns, but its selection of rings is pretty limited. I chose these ones because they were the lowest 1" weaver rings that Hoffman's had in inventory.

I have three ten-round factory magazines for now. I'll probably pick up some 25 or 50 rounders over the winter.

Update: I switched over to a set of Leupold PRW low rings and the scope seems quite a bit more solidly mounted now.

This quote from a poster on an XJ forum pretty much sums up at least 15% of any car forum on the internet.
A lot of people will go to great lengths to justify money they've spent, especially when it was actually a waste of money.

Luckily, though, there are also posts like this that help balance it out. (NOTE: Not on a car forum.)

One of those things I want to find again in the future so I'm blogging it here posts.

When people repeat this lie, they are insulting you and every other normal, average person.

The big lie? "Most homicides are among people who know each other."
